Dear Boyz,
Last Friday when Bernie, Greg and I sat down to make the final decision about whether to tackle this project or not, the total projected cost was $20,000.00. This roughly equals the total giving for 2008 to our organization. In other words from a human perspective we should have all said NO and gone home. But all three of us were SO certain that this was a God-activity and was a safe ‘leap of faith’ we all felt convinced it was a GO! So instead of saying NO we said GO! Our God is bigger than a measly $20,000.00!!!
Within 24 hours an awesome man stepped up and volunteered to do all the necessary plumbing work which immediately brought the project cost down by 25%. Then on Sunday I told a 60 second version of the story at church and another $1,800.00 materialized. On Monday a phone call was made and the handicap tub that we thought was going to cost $6,000.00 only cost $2,200.00. And so it has gone each day since. At this point we are only $5,900.00 short of having everything in hand to start work this Friday afternoon. God WILL PROVIDE!!! Is part of His plan for you to step up? Pray over it today as we fast and pray for God to fully use this project to bring Glory to His Name!
We currently have three individuals talking to businesses in the community about donating materials. We need lots of lumber, electrical material, and plumbing material. If you have anyone you can call please do, I’ve attached a list of specifics. Let me know as soon as possible since we start work in 48 hours. God will provide an overflow and maybe you are part of that miracle. We also need a hot water heater and two sets of stackable commercial grade washers and dryers. The washer and dryers aren’t part of our budget but if they showed up it would be such an ongoing blessing to this family. Their laundry demands are unrelenting and overwhelming.
Saturday looks like a great day with lots of people signed up already. We still need skilled help in the afternoons and evenings the rest of the week (mon-fri) to help us stay on schedule (it is an ambitiously aggressive schedule). If you can help out one or two afternoon/evenings – we will have a meal for you and plenty of satisfying work to be done.
Every single day of lunches for this project is already covered. Who would be willing to bring easily eaten meals for the evening shifts? Pizza – subs – finger food. Ladies thank you! Here is one more ‘ask’ – we are moving the laundry room into the garage and will have everything in a mess for a few days. How would be willing to pick up trash bags full of laundry, do the laundry and delivery it back to the Lon home? Before you say “YES” you need to know that Christian soils himself and everything around him all the time. The best plan would be to go to a Laundromat and do the laundry there. If you are willing to do this tough act of Love let me know. We need someone for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of next week.
If anyone has a contact with a radio station, T.V. station, or newspaper let me know. I’ll be contacting them today and tomorrow. Matthew 5:14-16 tells us to let our ‘good deed’ lights shine into a very dark and lost world. We aren’t seeking attention for ourselves – we are hoping to raise up our crucified and risen Savior as the hope of a lost and despairing world!
Join me today in fasting and praying that God will continue to take the lead in making this God-adventure happen.
In HIM,
Paul
